What is chiropractic?:
“Chiropractic is a health profession specialising in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on the functioning of the nervous system and general health.”- CASA
Chiropractic treatment is one of the most commonly used alternative, drug-free and non-invasive treatments with a holistic approach to healing. Chiropractors are highly trained professionals specialising in the spine and joints of the arms and legs. Their treatment consists of manual therapy and auxiliary therapeutics.
Chiropractic care is not only limited to patients with pain, stiffness, joint conditions, trauma or neurological conditions, but the healthy, pain-free individual as well. Chiropractic care can contribute to a healthy lifestyle for the whole family. Patients of any age can visit a chiropractor.

“Chiropractic is a health profession specialising in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on the functioning of the nervous system and general health.”- CASA
Yes, chiropractic is safe. It is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal complaints. Although chiropractic has an excellent safety record, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects. The risks associated with chiropractic, however, are very small.
What is an adjustment?:
Adjustments or spinal manipulation are treatment techniques used by chiropractors to restore normal motion to a dysfunctional spinal joint. The manoeuvre is a High-velocity, Low-amplitude thrust that is usually accompanied by an audible release or “cracking” sound. This sound is a cavitation occurs as a result of an expansion of gas bubbles within the joint.
During the examination, a chiropractor will use a technique called Motion Palpation to feel for restricted movement and a reproduction of pain/symptoms at each vertebral level along the spine. Once a restricted segment has been identified, the chiropractor will correct this dysfunctional movement with an adjustment.
